Couples Counseling
Partners tell me that seeing me together is life changing, and that makes my heart happy. Couples Counseling is hard work for all three of us because my job is to help you talk openly and honestly about really intimate and difficult issues like timed intercourse, choosing an egg donor, cancelling your vacation to afford IVF, managing bedrest with young children at home, making the decision to try for a "rainbow baby" after a traumatic birth, and one of the most terrible heartbreaks of how to come home from the hospital without your baby. I can help you navigate the complexities of infertility, complicated pregnancy, and pregnancy & baby loss. Couples often need completely different things during fertility treatment and loss, and my job is to help you communicate, and learn how to really support your partner as you attempt to go down a new path filled with uncertainty and copious amounts of anxiety. I am passionate about offering empathetic guidance and my patients tell me that they "couldn't have survived without me." I have a unique background as the first infertility counselor in Delaware, and also one of the first local counselors to really pursue training and treatment for perinatal loss. You will soon learn that I have held the hands of so many women and couples who came to me at the lowest points of their lives, and were discharged feeling confident about both moving forward, and using the tools I taught them in couples counseling.

Some of the issues we will address in couples therapy are:
-
How men and women grieve differently
-
Supporting your partner when you want to proceed in different ways
-
Learning how to communicate about tough subjects like sex & intimacy
-
Techniques like reflective listening and balancing finding joy while honoring your angel baby
