Consultation
Consultations offer one or two sessions with me to help you decide next steps in building your family.
In fertility treatment, it is common to consult with me to explore whether you are comfortable with IVF, ethical concerns with genetic testing of embryos, and one of the most complex issues - pursuing a sperm or ovum (egg) donor with or without a surrogate. I have worked with patients using third party reproduction to create their family, and we'll address the common issues related to primary and secondary infertility. Before I opened The Delaware Counseling Center, I worked in adoption. So I am very knowledgable about the issues you should consider before deciding to adopt and I work closely with local adoption agencies.

Some of the issues we will address in a consultation are:
-
Processing the loss you might feel about not having a genetic connection to your child
-
Concerns about how to facilitate bonding and attachment
-
Disclosure to your family, friends, and most importantly, your child

Many people request a consultation and quickly decide that they actually want/need counseling too. I am happy to do a consultation and switch you into a counseling slot if we agree that would be beneficial.
